小は大を兼ねる ～the lesser also serves for the greater～

"大は小を兼ねる"という言葉がある。

でも、いつの頃からか、"小は大をかねる"と思うようになった。

小さいものは確かに大きなものには成れない。けれど、

小さいものだからこそ、大きなものの代わりになりえる。

幼い子どもたちは、大人にはなれない。

けれど、幼い子どもたちは、大人より大事なことを忘れてはいない。

小さな生き物が、大自然の営みを教えてくれるのだ。

There is the word "The greater also serves for the lesser".
But I came to think, "The lesser also serves for the greater".
A small thing is not a big thing. However, the small thing substitutes for the big thing.
Young children are not adults.
However, young children know the thing that is more important than an adult.
A small creature can teach the working of the Nature.
